don’t tell the world how much my teams and my city suck without disclosing what teams you root for or what city you call home. show yourself. be a man and stop hiding behind the veil of anonymity provided you via this Web site. what teams do you root for? or do you simply root against the phillies, flyers, sixers and eagles?
obviously, mommy and daddy didn’t give you enough attention as a child and you need to make yourself feel better by pointing out other flaws and inadequacies. sweet schadenfreude, if you will, which is pretty pathetic, dude.
i attended more than 1,000 phillies and eagles games at The Vet, as my dad had phils season tickets from ’72 to ’85 years (essentially the phillies only decent span in 123 years) and then we had birds season tix from about ’84 to ’94, which allowed me to watch some great football — randall on MNF vs. the giants or any game with him at QB for that matter; reggie, jerome, andre et al. tearing apart offense after offense; and, of course that game in ’89 when joe montana threw four 4Q TD’s to beat the birds, as that was about as good as it gets. i actually felt glad to see that game as i walked out even though the birds lost.
as i got older i went to at least 25 phillies games a year and a bunch of sixers and flyers games, as well. saw MJ throw in 55 (or so) against the sixers one game, too.
then in 1998 i got my own eagles season tickets in section 749 right next to the Phanavision and promptly watched the birds become one of the best teams in the NFL under reid and mcnabb.
while i agree with your assessment that the lack of a championship from these four teams in 23 years is pathetic, i gotta stand up for my town and my teams and say they’ve been a pleasure to watch and root for in all of my 35 years.
i’m one of those people that thinks second place simply means first loser, and i understand you play sports to win and we all follow professional sports teams in the hope that they’ll win the championship so we can go to the parade, but as i get older i understand that the game is what matters most. simply watching football on sunday is joyful and an escape from the doldrums of the 9 to 5.
so all you philly haters can go fuck yourself. (especially douchebag redskins fans that shit in urinals. what the fuck is wrong with you, man? do us all a favor and suck on an exhaust pipe or someshit)
anyway, us philly fans will always stand defiantly in the face of your pathetic barbs knowing full well that we have what yous’ll never have and that’s the joy and camaraderie we share when we’re together rooting for the four greatest teams in the world.
