Has Willie been fired yet? Woo hoo Mets!!!

Please, I’m more worried about the Marlins.

I’d be more worried about the Montgomery Biscuits then the Mets & Phillies combined. LOL!

  • Paul

Yeah the Phillies are first in their division with the 5th or 6th best record in the league. I’d be just a bit worried about them.

  • Derf

I think I’m more worried about my ass chaffing than the Phillies doing anything noteworthy. LOL!

Wait till the second half of the season. Ahhh yes, the Phillies collapse will happen and you all will suffer like always. You have no pitching, and the only things that bails you out is those whiney shittalking idiots known as “Jroll and Ryan Howard soN!!!!”

If the Phillies actually manage to not screw up the remaining 89 games, I wonder if they’ll get swept in the playoffs again?

It was so nice last year with all the drunken asshole Phillies fans talking shit about how they won the division & it was their year to win it all (again).

Then, before they can even fire up their grills, *poof*, the Fightn’ Phils were fighting for tee time. LOL!!!!

Who is going to contend with the Phillies in the second half of the season? Our starting pitching may be an issue but have you seen the starting pitching in the NL East. It’s not like any of the other teams have an elite rotation. Throw in the fact that the Phillies have the best BP and offense in the East (maybe even the NL) and you have to figure they win the East.

You can hope for a second half collapse all you want but citing their rotation as the only reason won’t make it happen.

Hopefully the Phillies actually hit the ball if they make the post season.

yea actually willie has been fired genius and the phillies have been around for over 120 years and the mets have more champoinships than them and the mets been around for like 45 years

and the mets definitley have a better rotation than the phillies because they have santana, maine, perez, pedro, and pelfrey and the phillies have hamels, myers, moyer, kendrick, and eaton,so the mets definitley have the better rotation

Willie wasn’t fired when I wrote that comment, genius (but we all knew it was going to happen). I never said the Mets didn’t have a better rotation. My point is that it is not an “out of this world” rotation. The Mets rotation just isn’t good enough to make up for their other flaws. With that being said, here are the ERAs of all Phillies and Mets starters so far:

    Hamels: 3.23 ERA
    Moyer: 4.12 ERA
    Eaton: 4.57 ERA
    Kendrick: 5.06 ERA
    Myers: 5.58 ERA

    Santana: 3.04 ERA
    Maine: 3.87 ERA
    Pelfrey: 4.62 ERA
    Perez: 5.06 ERA
    Martinez: 5.12 ERA
    Figueroa: 5.12 ERA

I don’t see anything great about the way the Mets rotation has been performing. Certainly not good enough to overtake the Phillies who have a better bullpen and offense. Again, I’m not saying the Mets rotation isn’t better. I would gladly trade some of our starters for the Mets starters. I just don’t think the Mets rotation is good enough to take the division from the Phillies.

Also, save the whole “more championships” argument. I’ve only heard it a million times already. I want to talk this season. Not much I can do about the last 120 years now.

I heard Moyer is really good with a 4-iron. That should come in handy during the playoffs.

I’m with Paul on this one. What were you thinking Mike? This is not the place to talk about Philly’s lack of championships! Try http://www.homeandgardenparty.com or http://www.metroswimshop.com

well your right on the bullpen, but if perez was consistent and pedro gets on track, and if wright and beltran start hitting like they should, then they will have a pretty good chance of winning the division, and delgado is starting to hit, so they have the offense, so if they can make a trade to get a good middle reliever, they will be a good team, and will be hard to beat, and the phillies are the only team that can compete with them for the division title, so the series on july 4-7 in philly, and the series on july 22-24 at shea will have a big impact on who wins the division, so we will see what happens.

And defr, I wasn’t trying to talk about their lack of championships, i was just making a point of why the mets are the better team.

and the only person in the phillies bullpen i would want on the met7s is gordon, because like i said before, they need that set-up guy, and i would take Billy Wagner over Brad Lidge any day, so if the mets got a good set-up man, then they would have a good chance of winning the division.

    Reply

  • Paul

Out of everyone in the Phillies BP you would take Gordon? I don’t know man, I would honestly trade the entire Phillies BP for the Mets BP if I was a Mets fan (even Lidge for Wagner)

You’re right about the upcoming series though. The Phillies are on a rough stretch and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get better any time soon. They need to learn how to hit good pitching. It’s atrocious to watch.

the only reason that i would take gordon out of everyone else in the phillies bp is because the mets need that set-up guy for wagner, and gordon was a good set-up guy for mariano rivera when he was with the yankees, so he would be a good fit for the mets bp

The NL East looks hot right now! Nothing says “championship caliber” like a 6 game losing streak. Very impressive! LOL!

I have no defense. It’s horrible. If you can’t hit good pitching then why even make the playoffs? I’m hoping that our batters are just in a collective slump.

well i have no defense for the mets losing 2 in a row to the mariners, including losing 11-0 last night and the night before johan giving up a grand slam to felix hernandez, they are only 4 games back, but last night they made this guy R.A. Dickey look like an all-star, he went 7 innings, and the mets got 6 hits off of him, only 1 of them an extra base hit, and they left 9 guys on base. And this is against the mariners! the worst team in baseball! the mets are not exactly looking like a playoff team. They have so much talent on that team, but they keep losing! i don’t get it. if they keep it up, then i guess i’ll have to start looking forward to football season already, and it’s not even july yet
